LENT WEEK 3: DAY 18
The weapons of our warfare are multiple and uncountable and they can’t be numbered. When it comes to battle, anyone can use any weapon that best suits the situation they find themselves. In the time past, God has shown us that all the elements of nature could be used as weapons against evil. when evil had filled up the earth and was fast growing, God used water to destroy the evil (Genesis 7:17-23) and restore new life. God opened the fountain of the deep and floodgates of heaven to destroy evil and when he finished, he closed them (Genesis 8:2). I have heard many people pray and ask God to open the floodgates for blessings but I also want you to know that the floodgates can be opened to destroy evil. Water is one of the powerful weapons that God uses to save and destroy. The waters of the Red Sea opened to save the Israelites but closed to destroy the Egyptians (Exodus 14:21-30). To free Israel from sin and stain the Lord God declared that he would sprinkle clean water on them (Ezekiel 36:25) and make them pure. Always remember that just as water brings and saves lives, it also destroys life. Sometimes in our battles, we need to ask God to open the floods for us and sweep away the evil gathered against us.
Another powerful weapon you can invoke is the finger of God. Jesus mentioned clearly that he drives out demons by the finger of God (Luke 11:20). The finger of God is powerful and it sets free from every evil but it is also powerful to bring destruction that no one can stop (Exodus 8:14-15). The Egyptian magicians identified that the happenings were brought about by the finger of God and understood that they were powerless and helpless in front of it. When King Belshazzar defiled the vessels of the house of the Lord, the finger of God appeared and wrote on the wall and caused such a terror that his knees knocked and his legs gave way and noted that none of his magicians could unravel the mystery (Daniel 5:5-9). The finger of God is powerful and irresistible to every evil and cannot be countered by any power.
The glory of the lord is a shelter and is a repulsing power against evil. Isaiah reminds us that the Glory of God will be a canopy for all and will be a shade by day and by night (Isaiah 4:5). Once the glory is upon you, it will terrify the evil that gathers against you and put them to flight immediately they see you (Psalm 48:4-6). The glory of the Lord upon you is the reason you will arise and shine and not be covered by darkness even if it fills the earth (Isaiah 60:1-2). This is because darkness shall never be able to comprehend or put out the light of the glory (John 1:5). Carry the glory with you when you step into battle and watch the enemy tremble in fear and give way.
Another important weapon that we can use which is always at our disposal is salt. Salt is so powerful that it can stop evil from resurfacing. Each time God wanted to destroy completely and stop anything from springing up again, he added salt to whatever weapon he used. A good example is when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and made it a waste where nothing grows (Deuteronomy 29:23-25) and in threatening Moab he said it will be like Sodom a place possessed by nettles and salt (Zephaniah 2:9). When you destroy by fire, there is the hope of growth again but when you add salt to it after destruction, it is condemned forever. Elisha the prophet in trying to end the evil that affected the water, will pour salt in the water and make the water pure and healthy again (2 Kings 2:19-22). Salt is a powerful weapon for preservation and destruction. Closely linked to salt is oil. The oil blessed the name of the Lord can restore the sick back to health (James 5:14), the oil gives joy and uplifts (psalms 45:7) and when God anoints you with oil, he makes your cup to overflow (Psalm 23:5). We can also talk of the balm of Gilead (Genesis 37:25; 43;11; Jeremiah 46:11 and so on) and many others. Both oil and balm are efficient in healing and deliverance. Note that there are uncountable weapons of warfare and we are called to use that which suits us best but to always remember that these weapons are only powerful in God (2 Corinthians 10:4) and nowhere else.
