In his book “True Devotion to Mary“, Saint Louis de Montfort identifies seven motives for consecrating oneself to Our Lady.

1. To imitate the example of Jesus Christ, who chose to come to us through Mary.

2. To approach Jesus more easily and intimately through Mary.

3. To obtain a greater understanding of the mysteries of Christ through Mary.

4. To acquire a closer union with Jesus by consecrating oneself entirely to Mary.

5. To receive greater protection from the temptations and attacks of the devil by being under Mary’s mantle.

6. To increase one’s humility and dependence on God by consecrating oneself to Mary.

7. To increase one’s fervor and perseverance in living a virtuous life through the help and intercession of Mary.
