My dear child, the spiritual journey on which I have called you to journey is not only about prayer but also of fasting. Fasting is one of the difficult aspects of the prayer life and most people dread it some of those who engage in it do not do it to please my Father but just to fulfill what was laid down. Fasting goes beyond not eating and drinking even though it entails not eating and not drinking. There is a kind of fasting that’s pleasing to me and my Father and that’s the fasting that raises man from the dust and restores his dignity. Fasting is not first about abasement but about elevation. It is all about you lifting your spirit by depriving your flesh of what it desires. But then how can you willingly choose to deprive yourself of something for the greater good and then act sad about it? Fasting is a free sacrifice you choose to make for the greater glory of God and so should be done with love. Why then do you look so miserable on your fasting days? I do not find pleasure in you going around sad and pale and broken because you are fasting. Have you noticed how you become intolerant and sometimes aggressive because of the fasting? Do you think such actions are pleasing to me? Do you notice how the fasting makes you sad and unwelcoming? People see you and immediately notice you are not ok and start asking questions about your well-being. Some consciously avoid approaching you because the look on your face is scary and repulsive. This you do in the name of fasting. This is not how I want you to look when you fast. Your fasting should rather be a cause of joy and it should make you look good. Anoint your head and face and look bright that your fasting should be made known just to me and my Father. Be welcoming and share the grace of your fasting with others, give to them the food you sacrifice, and offer to the poor the proceeds of the same fasting. This is what my Father wants and such is the fasting that’s pleasing to him. Such fasting will open doors before you and make a way where there is no way. I enjoin you to become a child who makes prayer and fasting your routine and you will see how everything shall bow before you as you walk along. I can assure you, that when you become a child of prayer and fasting, what you wish and long for shall come to you and your life shall become a wellspring of divine blessings. My dear child I know this can be challenging because the body shall go through some sort of rough and tough time but be rest assured it will come out purified and beautified. Join the line of fasting and prayer and be blessed.
Flourish in my love
